Boots

Randy has given me a wonderful 60th Birthday!

These are just one of the GORGEOUS gifts he gave me today!

Then this evening when I flipped my desktop sassy devotional calendar

February 1 says

"The Godly woman faces her challenges with prayer,

a sense of adventure and

a great pair of boots."

Well, ya can't beat that!

30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 29

Day 29: purchased

I didn't purchase anything today! I did get a haircut! Does that count?

Still trying to get the hang of this "self portrait" idea!!!

My purchase for the day - Haircut!

Making Noodles

I'm not sure why but about mid-morning I decided I wanted to make some home made noodles for dinner tonight.

As I told you earlier, I purchased this book:

You can learn more about this wonderful book here:

So far I've made four things out of the cook book and EVERYTHING I've made has been GOOD!!

My noodles won't look this perfect - but I'm betting they taste just as good!

Can't wait until dinnertime to taste these!

Go to the "Mennonite Girls Can Cook" website to get the recipe!

This is haircut day for me - so my noodles are drying on the counter
until I get home and fix our meal later.

Eating out!

Today was estate sales.

While out and about, my husband took me out to eat. TWICE!!

This is where we went.

Both times.

I know!! Hard to believe, RIGHT?

Randy enjoying his breakfast!

He loves cinnamon rolls!

For lunch we enjoyed Hot Dogs.

Sorry I didn't get a picture of that delicacy!!

What's not to love about this man?

30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 28

Day 28: Daily Routine

Our routine isn't the same every day except for this:

Every morning, Randy makes coffee. (when I make it, it just doesn't taste as good.) This is one thing that happens every morning.

Then I ship books:

From there, our day is different, depending on what day it is. Since this is Monday, even before I get my cup of coffee and even before I ship the books, I strip the bed and wash the sheets:

Unusual for a Monday - there were estate sales - So we headed out.

I always spend time each day blogging.

We almost always watch some westerns in the evenings.
While I'm cooking dinner. (supper)

Our days are different - yet the same.
There is great comfort in routine.
I've always survived better with a routine.
My life is good.

30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 27

Day 27: After Dark

Taking pictures after dark in the city is much different than in the country! It truly is dark in the country. But it was fun and I got some good pictures. - even though it doesn't look dark.

30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 26

Day 26: Something Old

Since this is my birthday month, I thought of doing another self-portrait!! : )

Just kidding!! The Husband and I started a new hobby this week! We are traveling around taking pictures of Sculptures in Wichita. (we found a book at an estate sale that lists them and thought it would be fun to do our own Photos!) And we are also traveling around taking pictures of churches - because we enjoy it!

St. Mark Catholic Church established in 1875,
cornerstone of this building is 1905.
Found in St. Mark, Kansas

The Lost Hymnal!

I have always enjoyed using a hymnal in my quiet times. I'm not a gifted singer. I can't carry a tune, but I love to read the hymns.  I have always had a favorite Hymnal that I have used and in the move I misplaced it.

It could be in one of m.a.n.y. boxes...

I may have accidentally stuck it in a box that went to Community Care...

Or I may have put it with other items that went to other family members.

Anyway, my lost hymnal was like the ones we used in the first church we ever worked with, in 1978!  At my "home" church, Oakwood Christian Church in Enid, Oklahoma. So I messaged one of my dear friends from my home church and asked if she remembered the name of the hymnal so I could find one on amazon. She sent one to me!!!

My dear friend went on an adventure in the church attic to find this hymnal for me!  The only thing that would have made her gift to me better is if I could have enjoyed that adventure with her!!

Decoupage Jesus

Randy and I buy our inventory at estate sales and garage sales in season. Personally I like the estate sales because I love going through the houses most of the houses.  When we leave an estate sale I often envision the lives of the people that had lived there.

It's amazing what you can learn about people by going through their houses and seeing what is being sold. We mostly : ) look for books and you can often learn much about them by what they read! - As I say that, I think about all the murder mysteries I have on my shelves... Oh my. Well, anyway...

One of the smaller houses we went to awhile back had a decoupaged picture of Jesus for sale. Many things went through my mind when I saw this picture.

I first thought of Mr. P - one of our professors at Midwest Christian College. He was a good friend of my boss, Mr. F. Mr. F was a professor, too, but he also owned the College Bookstore - that's where I worked. ANYWAY...

Mr. P used to come in teasing Mr. F saying that anyone who sold "Jesus Junk" would not inherit the kingdom of heaven. I always think of Mr. P when I see someone that has "Jesus Junk" or that sells "Jesus Junk."

Mr. P's theory was that you could take any object, put "Jesus" on it, triple the price and sell it. He didn't like this practice.

But in going to estate sales we see lots of stuff that people have purchased or has been given to them as gifts that reflects their faith.

And although I wouldn't hang a decoupaged Jesus in my own home, I hope that it brings comfort to those that do.

What do you have in your home that represents your faith?
