Tonight I was privileged to be a part of the dedication of the youth room at our new church building.
To start off let me say it was a moving experience – one I am so happy to have been a part of. I am so thankful the husband “DRAGGED” me kicking and screaming to help with these wonderful young people!!
Matt, our youth minister talked about the dreams he has for serving God in this room. The dreams he has of working for God’s Kingdom and ministering to these young people.
God began a good work in this room tonight
with 20 young people and several adults.
Our young people wrote their prayers on the floor for all they want God to accomplish in this room. Then the floor will be covered – protecting all these prayers for the foundation of what God will build in their lives and the lives of their friends.
King Solomon, in 2 Chronicles 6, prayed in dedication for the Temple he had built for God. As we dedicated our youth room, we used many of Solomon’s words to ask God to dwell within these four walls as young people were challenged to live the life He intends for them.
“Lord, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your promise of love with us who continue in your way. You have kept all of your promises to us.
“Lord my God, give attention to our prayer and our plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that we are praying in your presence. May your eyes be open toward this church day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer we pray for this place. Hear the supplications of your young people when they pray for this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.
You know their hearts
(for you alone know the human heart).
“As for the visitor who comes because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray in this church, answer them so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name.
“When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin— and if they have a change of heart, and repent and plead with you and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.
“Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. Amen
My prayer for this room:
“Dear God, Please change lives in this room. Heal hurts. Build Godly relationships.
Let your Spirit move in the lives of all who enter these doors. We thank you for all that will be accomplished for You because of this group of young people.
In Jesus Name.
Amen and Amen”
