Paperwork

We live in a country that is paperwork happy. You "can't swing a dead cat around" without have to fill out paperwork. Sooo- today was my day. Paperwork. Changing my name on legal documents...

This is where we started out the morning. At the Tag Office! When we came in we found that an out of state titled car has to be inspected. So we did that first. Then I took a number. My number was 84 and when we first started, the number showing on this sign was 63.....But the wait wasn't as long as you might expect about an hour later they called my number.

At this office the paperwork I needed was my Oklahoma vehicle title, lien release for my car, insurance verification, and marriage license. Now I have a Kansas plate and a Kansas title coming in the mail in a couple of weeks!

Then we headed clear across town in the pouring rain to this office:

Paperwork needed here was my birth certificate, my old drivers license, my marriage license, and proof of where I live now. Where I live now?  - my new vehicle registration had my new address so that worked.

After an hour in this office, which included all the above paperwork, money passing hands and a new picture, I left with the promise of getting my new driver's license in the mail - in a few weeks!

Andru was along with us and had stayed up late last night with a buddy spending the night, so he wasn't very "engaged" in our trip.

But by now, he was ready for some fast food! It was noon and we knew we needed to get through the lunch hour before heading to the next office so we stopped and had some lunch.

Then we headed across town again to this office:

In here, I needed, proof of the name I used before I got married, marriage license, birth certificate and social security card.  Went in, took a number, no pictures allowed inside building (!) and believe it or not - the wait here was the shortest of all! I left with the promise of getting my new social security card in the mail in a few weeks!

Randy was my driver for the day!

All in all a good day. After 6 hours I came home with:

Most of the paperwork I started out with!
Less money!
Receipts for leaving the money!
And lots of promises that I would receive NEW paperwork in the mail.....

sometime!

WEDNESDAY WISDOM

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away" - most of recognize this quote! anyway some time ago I wrote a blog about my journals. You can check it out HERE

I have a journal that I write quotes in! I love quotes. When we lived in Jamaica, the girls and I watched the movie Steel Magnolias many many - many times. We would quote lines from this movie quite often. - in fact, we still do. So for years I've "collected" quotes. Most I can give credit to the one saying the quote, once in a while, I just don't know from where it originated.

Most of the time when we  quote someone, it has a bit of wisdom. I mean really to be worth repeating - it should SAY something!

I want to share these pages of wisdom with you. So on Wednesdays I'm going to offer a bit of wisdom! - or not, depending on the quote!

This Wednesday's wisdom is in honor of Randy :)  and John Wayne.

"Life is tough, It's even tougher when you're stupid" John Wayne

This is one of Randy's favorites!
He usually says, Life is tough, it's even tougher if you're an idiot!

Something to think about!

Farmers' Market

Almost every Saturday morning, we go to the Farmers' Market at 21st and Ridge Road.

Each week it gets busier and busier!
The vegetables get prettier and more abundant!
It's fun to walk up and down the rows seeing all the goods for sale .

There are 5 rows of venders.
With much more than fruits and vegetables for sale.

Venders selling baked goods, garden plants,
houseplants, flowers, knitted items, wood items,
items made from ostrich and emu,
and many herbs.

Cut flowers and more baked goods.

I'm a creature of habit. Always have been.
Our first week at the market, we bought onions and radishes
from this couple from Burrton, Kansas.
They come to this market every Saturday from
mid - May through mid - September.
He's the main gardener and she helps him.

This week I bought tomatoes from these
shy - very responsible young women.
This is the first time I've seen them at the market but their tomatoes are delicious.

We saw a vendor with pottery, many with honey,
(some Saturday, if they aren't so busy, I want to find out if any of these
Honey venders have their own bee hives.)

This creative man makes "yard art."
It was amazing to see his creative "produce".
He was VERY busy and I didn't get a chance to visit with him either.

I have a tendency to stay away from the vendors that seem to do things in mass. I like the ones with the couples that are working to make some extra money, retired people adding extra income to their fixed income, or doing it as a hobby, or young people working hard to become responsible. - and of course to make some money! There is that added benefit!

We had a good time looking and walking -
the weather today is BEAUTIFUL!
So all in all - we had a great time.
