More Things to do in Wichita!!

Saturday we had a 2nd Saturday extravaganza!! (I'll explain the 2nd Saturday concept later in this blog.) Our "cruise" director planned a wonderful Saturday afternoon! She earned her title from being the best director ever!! But also 'cause we "cruised" around the city!

"Cruise" Director Gale and her husband Ron

Our first stop was a mystery stop. We met at an address Gale sent us by text.

 Hmmm. Dillons.

Why on earth would we meet at a Dillon's Grocery store?

 The Oscar Meyer Wiener-mobile!!!
Randy, Me, Gale, Ron, Pam and Terry

Our first stop put everyone in a good mood and we were ready for the day!

Our next stop was in the Delano District.
"Delano sprang up as a cowtown at the end of the Chisholm Trail and quickly gained a reputation as a place where trail-weary cowboys could take their rest and recreation in the many saloons and brothels.
Today Delano is home to dozens of unique locally-owned shops, art galleries and restaurants. Nightlife includes events like the Thursday Night Pub Pedal and the Final Friday Art Crawl."

Our first stop in the Delano District was "Delano Antiques". A GREAT antique store if you like browsing and/or buying. We had a great time in here. The guys enjoyed it because there were tables with cookies on them and newspapers! So they walked through the store in about 5 minutes and read papers, talked and ate cookies!  The women - well, we did what we do best! Shopped, talked and laughed.

Next was another antique store in this same area, The Pink Door.

The "Cruise" director and her husband as
King and Queen of the day!

Next was one of my favorite places! We had a good time at "The Nifty Nut House."

We headed to "The Spice Merchant"

The Spice Merchant is where 2nd Saturday comes in.

If you purchase one of their bags -

On the 2nd Saturday of the month take it in with you and you will get a
15 or 20% discount on your purchases.
(I can't remember which)

The Spice Merchant

The Spice Merchant has much more than spices.
Lot's to look at.
Lot's to buy!!
: )
By this time the samples from The Nifty Nuthouse had worn off
and we were ready for a snack.

So we headed to The Donut Whole.
 We had delicious cake donuts
Italian sodas, Coffee and Chai Tea

Donut Whole

Across the parking lot was a mural.
Here you can see the sunflower a little better.

Our next stop was Watermark Book Store

Watermark Books and Cafe

but it was right at 5:00 and had just closed so

we drove around and got to see many other places we want to visit sometime.

We also made a 10 minute stop at Food for Thought, a health food store.

Food for Thought Natural Foods Market

Our last stop of the day was at The Drury Plaza.
This used to be the Broadview.

We had a great day.
Gorgeous weather.
 Lots of laughs.
Lots of shopping.
 Great time with friends.
Life is good.

  1. What fun! I love the second Saturday concept for the spice store. Maybe we could do it in our new show. I'll have to run it by the marketing guy and see if it is okay. Sounds like you have made some great new friends up there. You are a strong and brave woman, Brenda. I am so glad you are happier now. God is good.
