WEDNESDAY WISDOM

"You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

My book club read "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett in February 2010. I loved the book and I was very excited to go to the movie when it came out.  It didn't disappoint. It was outstanding.

There are so many messages within this book that to pick one is probably not fair. But the love Aibileen has for her charge is remarkable. She makes it her goal to teach this little girl that she is very special. - no matter how others treat her, including her mother.

A bit of wisdom we should all learn and teach.

"You is kind. You is smart. You is important."

WEDNESDAY WISDOM

"Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

As we move from day to day, in all of our busy-ness. We can tell when some are hurting. In the picture from Joplin (above) we know many many were hurt and many are still hurting. We try to do what we can to rescue. Either by going, by contributing, by praying.

Anytime we pass someone in the street, they may be fighting a battle.

Or it could be -

A grumpy sales clerk.

A teacher.

Someone next to you at a sporting event -

or in the pew at church.

I could go on and on.

No one has a perfect life, no matter what you may see publicly.

Be kind.
make it a habit. make it a lifestyle.

Happy Place

Last week I was S.I.C.K.  All from a tooth that  had a new crown.  Anyway... I went to the dentist - and may I say here, dentists are NOT on my list of favorites!! I'm sorry to all the wonderful dentists out there but you just aren't my favorite.   :)

While in the dentist chair I thought of the old catch phrase
that people don't say as often as they did a few years ago -
find your "Happy Place."
I was hurting.
I was nervous.
I wanted to go home.
So I thought okay, where's your happy place?

What can you think about
to take your mind off of your mouth hanging open with 10 fingers in it
- and other things that I didn't even want to know about!

And I thought of this place.

Sitting on my couch looking out the back window.
It helped. It calmed me.
Every time I look out this window,
I thank God for the many many blessings He has given me.

Where is your happy place?
