"i'm not sure how far my eyes see before the land meets sky.  5 miles?  10?  more?  i have never been a good judge of distance.  character, maybe.  distance, no.  i make out a few dirt devils, some trees, and a windmill.  i squint.  there's an old tractor and hay bails too.  dirt roads intersect with fields on every corner.  rolling hills, mountains, lakes and oceans...they're all breathtakingly beautiful.  but i must say, i feel safest and most at home with flat land stretched out all around me."
