When I was a child my mom gave me a Little Golden Book "Mr. Wigg's Birthday Party" by P.L.Travers. About a wonderful Nanny that came to take care of Jane and Michael Banks. I loved this book! I'm sure I had it memorized. I still have my copy and it is WELL worn!
In 1964, I was 11 and the movie came out starring Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and Glynis Johns. My Grandma and Mom took me to the theater and let me out to watch this wonderful movie. I have the best memories of this day! When I went into the theater they had the most beautiful Mary Poppins dolls. I didn't have the money to get one but I just remember they looked so amazing to me.
When Mary Poppins came out on DVD, I bought it. I have had 2 Mary Poppins slumber parties with grand-kids! We watch the movie and eat junk food!
Well, for my 58th birthday, Heather bought tickets for the two of us to see the Broadway Musical! It is playing in Omaha and it was mesmerizing! It was wonderful! It was awesome! It was unbelievable!
The Omaha's Orpheum theater is a beautiful theater.

There were souvenirs for sale and they did have dolls. For some reason these dolls didn't look nearly as amazing as the ones I saw in 1964!! However, I did get a beautiful copy of the novel of Mary Poppins and a charm bracelet! So these two gifts compensated for the disappointment in the doll!
Josie and Riley know how much I love Mary Poppins - after all they have had to watch the movie with me several times!! :) So for my birthday they got me the greatest pink cap! On the front it says Practically Perfect and on the back it says Mary Poppins. Best cap ever!!!
Mary Poppins has the very best story for parent's within the entertaining singing and dancing. Our children are only small for just a moment. No matter what we are doing that we think is so important, it can't be more important than time spent with our children.
